2. In IELTS Speaking Part 2 you are given a task card on a particular topic. This will include key points that you should talk about. Then you have one minute to make notes and prepare your talk. 

Describe your perfect home.

You should say:

    • what it looks like
    • where it is located
    • what it contain

and explain if your real home is similar to this.

3. In IELTS Speaking Part 2, you have one minute to make some notes and prepare your talk. 

Read the task card, and then complete the table with words that you can use in your talk. Use the words in the box. The first one has been done for you.

5. In order to have enough to say in IELTS Speaking Part 2, you should always give examples or extra information about each point. Read the task card and the student’s answers. Then complete the table with the words in the box. Watch the video and check your answers.

Practise planning

6. Read the IELTS Speaking Part 2 task cards and pracise planning your answer in 1 min. Think about the ideas and useful language you will use in your answer. Then practise answering and record your answer.

Describe a famous business person that you know about.
You should say:

  • who this person is
  • what kind of business this person is involved in
  • what you know about this business person

and explain what you think of this business person.

Describe a hotel that you know.
You should say:

  • where this hotel is
  • what this hotel looks like
  • what facilities this hotel has

and explain whether you think this is a nice hotel to stay in.

Describe an interesting TV programme you watched about a science topic.
You should say:

  • what science topic this TV programme was about
  • what you saw this TV programme
  • what you learnt from this TV programme about a science topic

and explain why you found this TV programme interesting.

Describe a website that you bought something from.
You should say:

  • what the website is
  • what you bought from this website
  • how satisfied you were with what you bought

and explain what you liked or disliked about using this website.
